People Who Help Us

This term Reception have been learning all about the people who help us. We have done lots of fun activities and we were lucky enough to have some visitors in to talk to us.

We have learnt all about the police and we met some police officers. They brought their police car with them for us to look at.

We had some more police officers come into school as there was a crime scene in our outdoor environment. They took all of our finger prints and our shoe prints. They put the prints into the computer and it turned out that Miss Mills had taken the 3 bears spoons. She said that she was sorry and gave them back.

Other visitors included the fire service, a paramedic and a nurse.

We have all had a really good term and have learnt a lot about the people who help us.

Our class trip to Moss Bank Park

This term Reception have been to Moss Bank Park. They were learning all about growing and planting. On their trip they did lots of fun activities and learnt a lot about the plants around them. They even got to taste some herbs which were growing in the gardens! All of Reception got to plant either a coriander or spinach plant which they were able to take home with them.
Reception had lots of fun and really enjoyed their trip.

After we had been on our trip, Reception wrote what they had done for the blog. Have a look at some of our fantastic writing!

Brockholes Trip

This term Reception went to Brockholes Nature Reserve on their class trip. We learnt all about the different types of animals that have been sighted around Brockholes.

Reception got to take part in lots of fun activities. We had to listen to the different sounds we could hear in the woods, meet a tree and make smelly potions. We also had the opportunity to make our own dens in the woods out of sticks. They found this really exciting and their dens looked amazing!!

We really enjoyed our class trip to Brockholes.

Our Superhero Topic

This term Reception have enjoyed being Superheroes. We have been looking at what is a Superhero, what powers they have, what they eat and drink and how they stay fit and healthy.

Reception had a visit from some Evil Peas who had escaped from the freezer. The Evil Peas caused lots of mischief in the classroom. However, the Peas were no match for Reception. They used their Superhero skills to build traps in order to catch all the Evil Peas and returned them to the freezer!

For our enterprise Reception decided that they wanted to make Christmas wrapping paper, with a matching card and label. They asked Mrs Johnson for the money they needed to borrow to buy the resources. They told her that they would pay her back with the money they raised. They then had lots of fun making the sets. We sold them all for £1 at our enterprise event and managed to make a good profit.
